When designing a shower, Caroline Hughes begins with the tile. “Visually, it is the first element,” says the principal of CB Hughes Design. For this little woman’s rest room in Wellesley, ceramic tiles in a refined shade of blush, which Hughes put in vertically, make the house really feel each fashionable and heat, in addition to subtle and candy. “The juxtaposition of the basic cabinetry and the fashionable stacked tiles retains the house feeling contemporary,” Hughes says.
Hughes selected easy white marble for the bathe curb and bench so it would not compete with the daring countertop. The identical goes for the white porcelain ground tiles.
Equipe Cerámicas tiles from Greatest Tile in Dedham have a hand-crafted look. “If laid in a brick sample, they’d look very basic, so we flipped and stacked them,” Hughes says.
Drawn to the scalloped silhouette, she appropriated the mirror from one other room. As for the Mitzi wall lights, the designer says, “Once we noticed the scallop detailing of the sconces, we could not resist them.”
Having fallen for the daring veining and pink undertones of the Arabescato marble remnant, Hughes was thrilled that it was massive sufficient to high the vainness. “It truly is the star of the lavatory,” Hughes says.
She paired oil-rubbed bronze knobs with brass plumbing fixtures and door {hardware}. “I like to combine metals as a result of it makes areas look thought-out as a substitute of pulled from a catalog,” Hughes says. “Brass appears lovely with different heat steel finishes.”
The white oak vainness from Kramer’s Customized Kitchens and Woodworking in Sudbury brings an earthy heat to the house.
