MFCH MAGAZINE MAY/JUNE

May is one of the busiest moments in my year. The garden needs attention, our MFCH Tours pick up speed and social life here gets busy again after the quieter winter.

My favorite time of the day is when I can finally sit and relax and flip through the MFCH Magazine. The May/June issue is a particular favorite of mine because it is full of beautiful homes and gardens around France in the springtime. Putting our magazine together every two months is rather like making a large, colorful cocktail. We always try to include the

Roofing Contractors in Clinton Township, MI, Miller’s Home Improvement Discusses Roof Replacement Financing Options

PRESS RELEASE

Published May 3, 2023

Michigan roofing contractor Miller’s Home Improvement has released a blog post helping homeowners understand their options for financing a roof replacement.

Seemingly minor roofing problems, if left unattended for a long time, can eventually turn into major repairs. Roof leaks can cause degradation of the roofing materials and make them weaker, risking the integrity of the entire structure. Homeowners with a deteriorating roof can also experience higher energy bills due to poor insulation and air gaps. If the problems are detected as soon as they arise, they can be fixed with limited repairs.

Under a proposed law in Louisiana, homeowners would have to hire a licensed general contractor for any home improvement work valued at over $10,000. Some worry the measure will destroy the market for trim carpenters, fence builders and other handymen who can perform jobs up to $75,000 under current law.

Currently, the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSBLC) regulates two different types of residential construction professionals, aside from mold remediation experts: the licensed general residential contractor, which is required for jobs priced above $75,000; and the certified home improvement contractor, who can perform work between

Summer Style- Floral Table Linens

Floral table linens on repeat over here and I think they are such a pretty look for spring and summer.

Any vintage patterned floral is a beautiful layer on a table but the faded looks really speak to me. I got a ton of requests for more details on the blue floral cloth and pink lattice floral cloth I used in recent garden table styles. Sharing more about those and a few tips when choosing your table linens.

I say yes. And according to the many of you who asked about the pots I shared yesterday – it seems you agree too. So today it is all about some of the best vintage style pots and planters.

Terra Cotta Pots & Planters

Something funny- every time I type ‘terra cotta’ it changes it to ‘terra cottages‘. Which I guess is kind of okay since these little vintage style terra cotta ( or terracotta depending on what you like) garden pots are perfect for cottage style.

Home improvement still high on families agenda

Apr. 7—Economic trends are keeping home improvement high on the agenda of area residents, said Raymond Builders Vice President Greg Wright.

The trend has continued since the mid-2010s but is especially strong right now due to economic issues.

“I think we are seeing, as interest rates increase, people are putting more money into their homes,” Wright said.

Forbes magazine highlighted numerous trends in the industry including more personalized space, more color in kitchens and a mix of indoor-outdoor space.

Wright said the popularity of outdoor landscaping and outdoor entertainment areas has grown. He said the home improvement industry in general

french blooms: shooting photos for a book

I’m excited to tell you about a new book, called French Blooms, published by my dear friend, Sandra Sigman.

French Blooms

French Blooms shares Sandra’s love of flowers, and illustrates her inspiration that comes in large part from the time she spent living in France. Creating a book is an adventure. From outlining the concept to the writing, the photography, and then of course finding a publisher, it feels like running a marathon.

I was privileged to run part of the race with Sandra when she visited me a few years ago. Sandra stayed with me here in Normandy, along with another

Their mutual reign of terror begins in the parking lot of a home improvement store. He’s backing his pickup truck out of a spot. She drives by in a gleaming white SUV, nearly hitting him — or he nearly hits her. They’re probably both wrong! No harm, no foul, you’d think. Except she lays on the horn for an
