White House pushes for renewal of electronic surveillance law provision | Biden administration

The White House is stepping up pressure on lawmakers to renew a section of electronic surveillance law which permits the government to conduct targeted surveillance of foreign persons located outside the US.

The provision, known as section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (Fisa), is set to expire at the end of the year. But its renewal is facing pushback from privacy advocates and lawmakers, some citing examples in which law enforcement search requests were misused to conduct illegal surveillance on US citizens.

On Monday, Joe Biden’s administration circulated examples showing the US had used electronic surveillance under section

Here’s what’s going on with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s impeachment

The Republican Party in Texas has been thrown into a bit of turmoil in recent weeks as the Republican-controlled Legislature took the extraordinary step of impeaching Ken Paxton, the state attorney general, who is also a Republican.

Paxton is now only the third official to ever be impeached in Texas history, and he will soon face trial in the state Senate.

Late last month, lawmakers formally accused him of breaking the law, abusing his office, accepting bribes and obstructing justice, and, as dictated by the state constitution, their subsequent impeachment immediately removed him from office pending the results of the

An Ontario couple converted this 130-year-old church into a charming family home

“When this place popped up, it felt like the perfect renovation challenge”

When a 130-year-old church in Princeton, Ontario, went up for sale in 2018, Jonathon Harmer couldn’t shake the idea that the place would make a beautiful family home. An iron-and-woodworker by trade, Harmer had driven by the building with white front doors and an emerald steeple countless times while growing up in the nearby town of Drumbo. He was visiting a friend in BC when the church went on the market, so he enlisted his partner, Lynn Perreault, who lived nearby, to scope out

Marshall ISD to begin renovations at Early Childhood Center, Lil’ Mav Academy | News

Marshall ISD has announced that renovations will soon begin at Marshall Early Childhood Center and Lil’ Mav Academy. The project was delayed six months beyond the original timeline due to delays in planning and other variables beyond the district’s control.

Due to the district’s financial stewardship and healthy fund balance (savings account), the district is able to use a portion of that money at MECC and Lil’ Mav Academy.

Renovations will include:

Marshall Early Childhood Center

The cafeteria, all hallways and all classrooms in MECC will receive a face lift including paint, flooring and some reconstruction in the cafeteria.

Bomb Shelter Discovered During Basement Renovation In Bristol Home

When a construction and property company were renovating a basement in a client’s Bristol-based home, they stumbled across a piece of history.

Berkeley Place was working on a basement duplex apartment in Clifton when handwriting was found on one of the walls. The notes were recordings of WWII air raids in Bristol, which was a target for bombing due to the presence of Bristol Harbor and The Bristol Airplane Company. There were six major bombing raids on the city, in what has since become known as the ‘Bristol Blitz’.
