french blooms: shooting photos for a book

I’m excited to tell you about a new book, called French Blooms, published by my dear friend, Sandra Sigman.

French Blooms

French Blooms shares Sandra’s love of flowers, and illustrates her inspiration that comes in large part from the time she spent living in France. Creating a book is an adventure. From outlining the concept to the writing, the photography, and then of course finding a publisher, it feels like running a marathon.

I was privileged to run part of the race with Sandra when she visited me a few years ago. Sandra stayed with me here in Normandy, along with another

Spring Basket Decor- 5 Ways

Spring Basket Decor

A pretty little basket filled with flowers and foliage has a ton of charm and is a lovely touch for spring. I grabbed this French Market Basket and played a bit with ideas for where to enjoy it. From the front door to the staircase- sharing a few ideas for spring basket decor in the house.

French Market Foliage

Something fun about this basket of blooms? This is a piece from my collection with Balsam Hill. I designed the French Market Collection for them a couple of years ago. There is a garland, arrangement, several wreath sizes,

Admittedly, currently, the attic is looking a bit like a storage space. We have some boxes and extra things being stored in the half

14 Beautiful Vintage & Aubusson Style Rugs

Cozy and warm underfoot- and another layer of beauty in a room. Adding a rug to a seating area or hallway brings more than just a soft spot to walk on – it also brings charm and beauty to your home. While in most of my rooms, I tend to leave much of the floor the bare hardwood- in some places, beautiful aubusson rugs are perfection. And my most favorite kinds of rugs are vintage and antique or at least ones that have a vintage or antique look and feel. We explored all those beautiful pillows recently- and this week,

Are Home Improvement Loans Tax Deductible?

Home improvement loans generally aren’t eligible for federal tax deductions, even when used for eligible renovations or property improvements. Unlike home equity loans, which can be tax deductible, home improvement loans are unsecured debt, rendering them ineligible for tax credits.

Home improvement loans vs. home equity loans

Although home improvement and home equity loans may sound similar on paper, and can be used for the same purpose, it’s important to understand the differences between the two categories.

If you turn to a home improvement loan to finance your next project rather than an equity loan, you can leave thousands of

Treasure Hunt- Antique French Mirror

Another day… another treasure hunt. This time, it was a gorgeous large antique mirror that stopped me in my tracks.

Antique French Mirror

I have to stop browsing marketplaces. It almost always leads to me saving things and showing my husband something else that we should go pick up. Which, I am okay with. I honestly save a lot more things than I ever asked about or decided to pursue. So, kind of like window shopping right? Just getting ideas and inspiration for decor changes, etc. Unless I find something like this mirror.

Vintage Shopping

It was early in the
