What is a home improvement loan and how does it work?
Home improvement projects are frequently an expensive cost that can be difficult to manage with savings alone. Luckily, there are multiple ways to take out a home improvement loan. And because of their flexibility, you will be able to fund every step of a renovation — often at significantly lower rates than you would get with a credit card.
What a home improvement loan is
Home improvement loans are a type of personal loan designed to fund projects and renovations for your house or property. There are three common options:

Kitchen Organization: Drawers Instead of Cabinets
The perfect kitchen needs two things: form and function. I wanted our kitchen not only to be beautiful but to function well for our family and lifestyle. When I asked my Instagram followers what they should have been for a kitchen renovation, one of the most common answers was drawers instead of cabinets. And that’s exactly what we did!

KITCHEN ORGANIZATION IDEAS: DRAWERS
For all our lower cabinetry and island cabinetry, we tried to incorporate as many drawers as possible. The main reason that drawers are the more popular choice is that they are easier to store things in. With

Rep. Barbara Lee’s political future left unsaid at Oakland BART ribbon cutting
Renovations at the 19th Street BART station in Oakland are complete, and while the Uptown unveiling made for a nice photo opportunity for transit leaders and local politicians, the representative most likely to face questions about her future wasn’t eager to provide answers just yet.
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, BART officially unveiled the improved station, now boasting brighter lighting, remodeled restrooms, new railings and installations by local artists. Nearly a dozen officials were at the event, including newly elected Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, State Sen. Nancy Skinner and US Rep. Barbara Lee of Oakland.

Cadott schools seek nearly $10 million in referendum
Jan. 14—CADOTT — The Cadott School District will ask voters to support a $9,965,000 referendum in the April election, with the money going toward renovations and an expansion of the high school/middle school building.
Superintendent Jenny Starck said the referendum would be paid off over 20 years. If it passed, that would mean a $3 annual increase on a home valued at $100,000, he said.
The high school/middle school building would get renovations ranging from adding air conditioning to the construction of a new career and technical education center, which would feature an auto lab, he said.

Appliance Review: Our Ilve Range
I designed our kitchen around having all the appliances hidden except one: our beautiful Ilve Range. If you’ve seen it then you know it’s not just an oven but it’s a piece of art. It fits so beautifully into our kitchen’s design and all the reviews pointed to it being just as functional as it is beautiful. I’m here today to report back and tell you whether they were right 😉

Our Ilve range was gifted to us, however all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

CHA building without heat to get $100 million renovation
Good afternoon, Chicago.
For seniors living in the Albany Terrace Apartments in Chicago’s South Lawndale neighborhood, the past week inside their building has been cold. A pipe burst and flooded the building’s auditorium and hallways, residents said, and the heat went out.
The Chicago Housing Authority says a $100 million renovation is scheduled for the 50-year-old building in January. But some are disappointed it had to get bad before it got better.
Here’s what else is happening today. And remember, for the latest breaking news in Chicago, visit chicagotribune.com/breaking and sign up to get our alerts on all your devices.
