WarmlyYours, a manufacturer that specializes in radiant heating products like electric floor heating and snow melting systems, released its Q2 2026 Industry Report earlier this week. Using WarmlyYours sales data as a proxy for the industry as a whole, the report analyzes the sales of radiant heating products within the wider context of the national housing and remodeling markets. This analytical approach relies on the assumption that the purchasing patterns of a dominant manufacturer reflect broader industry trends, allowing stakeholders to gauge the health of the sector through a specific yet representative lens.
Orders and values rise sharply
One of the most surprising findings in the report was that floor heating grew 14.3% in the second quarter. The number of floor heating orders increased 4.6%, while the average value of each order rose 9.3%. This distinct separation between order volume and order value is a strong indicator that the market is shifting away from small-scale, spot-heating applications toward full residential and commercial installation projects.
This shift suggests a transition to larger floor heating projects, which is supported by the customer channels that saw the largest growth in Q2 2026. The widening gap between the growth rate of order numbers and the growth rate of order values points toward an upward redefinition of project scope, where clients are increasingly seeking total-coverage thermal comfort solutions rather than partial upgrades.
Commercial general contractors grew sharply and there were significant gains in commercial design/build firms. The sheer magnitude of this commercial expansion suggests that the demand for high-capacity heating infrastructure is driving much of the overall market momentum in the current quarter. Beneath that commercial growth sit the segments that give the quarter its weight. Designer activity more than doubled, indicating that architects and interior designers are now viewing these systems as essential components of modern design rather than optional add-ons. Remodeling contractors posted strong gains from established volume levels, demonstrating that while new construction is a factor, the existing housing stock renovation is providing a massive foundation for continued growth.

From afterthought to standard
Julia Billen, Owner and President of WarmlyYours, sees the growth among professional customers as a sign that floor heating is becoming less of an afterthought and more of a deliberate part of the project specification. This professional adoption signals a market shift where thermal comfort is being planned and budgeted for from the very beginning of the construction or renovation process.
“The interesting thing about this quarter is that radiant heating isn’t just sneaking into more projects—it’s getting invited to the party earlier,” said Billen. “When designers are specifying it and contractors are building it into the scope, that tells us something important: they’re seeing the value before the project ever gets to the installation stage. And once a customer experiences a properly designed heated floor, it’s pretty hard to convince them that cold tile was a better idea.”
